Kelowna Precision Home Builders: Where Quality Meets Elegance

ARG Contracting Kelowna Custom Home Builders

Building a custom home is a big deal. It’s probably one of the largest cheques you’ll ever write, and unlike most purchases, you don’t get to see the finished thing before you commit. You’re buying a promise. Which is exactly why who you hire matters more than almost anything else on the project.

At ARG Contracting, we’ve been building and renovating homes across the Okanagan for years, and the approach hasn’t really changed in that time. Show up, be honest about what’s happening, do the work properly, and leave homeowners with a house they actually want to live in. That’s the whole playbook. We’re also Gold Seal Certified and members of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of BC, which matters mostly because it means somebody outside the company is holding us to a standard too.

What building with ARG actually looks like

A lot of builders will tell you they offer a “personalized experience.” What that usually means in practice is you’ll meet the owner at the intake meeting and then get handed off to a project manager you’ve never met. That isn’t how we run things.

When you build a custom home with ARG, you’re working directly with our team from start to finish. The people making decisions on your project are the same people you sat down with at the beginning. You know their names, you can reach them, and when something needs a call it gets one.

We also use BuilderTrend, a project management platform that gives you live access to what’s happening on your site. Budgets, timelines, photos, conversations, it’s all in one place. You don’t have to wait for a Friday update email to know where things stand. You just open the app.

Why people keep choosing a local Okanagan home builder

The Okanagan has a lot of home builders. Some are good, some are less good, and a few will happily take your money and then disappear halfway through the project. We know because we’ve been called in to clean up those jobs more than once.

What sets us apart comes down to two things. First, we do both new builds and full home renovations, which means we’ve seen what holds up over 20 years and what doesn’t. That perspective matters when you’re choosing materials, layouts, and finishes for a brand new house. Builders who only do new construction tend to miss the stuff that becomes a problem five or ten years in.

Second, we’re local. Our trades are local, our suppliers are local, and we live in the same community as the people we build for. If something’s off on one of our jobs, we don’t have the option of shrugging and moving on. We’ll hear about it at the grocery store.

How the custom home build process actually goes

Every project is different, but the general shape of it looks something like this.

We start with a real conversation. You tell us what you want, what your budget actually is (not what you wish it was), and what’s non-negotiable. We tell you what’s realistic, what isn’t, and where we’d push back. If we’re not a fit, we’ll say so.

From there, we move into design. This is where a lot of custom builds go sideways, because homeowners get excited and say yes to everything, and by the time the drawings are done, the budget has quietly grown by 40%. We try to keep you honest here. If something’s going to blow the number, we’ll flag it before it does.

Once drawings are complete and finalized, we put together a detailed scope and a real timeline. Not a “best case, if nothing goes wrong” timeline, but one that assumes things will occasionally go sideways, because that’s construction.

Then we build. You’ll see us on site regularly, you’ll get consistent updates, and when we spot something that isn’t quite right, we fix it, even when you wouldn’t have noticed. At the end, we walk through the house with you. If anything still needs attention, it gets sorted before we hand over keys.

Custom homes, renovations, and everything in between

If a new build isn’t what you’re after, we also handle major renovations, from full gut jobs to kitchen renovations and bathroom renovations. Same team, same approach, same standard. We also take on insurance rebuilds after fire or flood, and have walked a lot of families through what’s usually one of the hardest years of their lives.

Frequently asked questions

What makes ARG Contracting different from other Kelowna home builders? You work directly with the team building your home, not a middle layer of office staff. We use live project management software, so you always know what’s happening. We’re Gold Seal Certified and CHBA BC members, and we stand behind our work long after the keys are handed over.

What kinds of homes do you build? Custom new builds, full home renovations, additions, kitchens, bathrooms, legal suites, and commercial projects. If you’re not sure whether your project fits, just ask.

How do you make sure quality stays consistent? We use a tight network of trades we’ve worked with for years, we’re on site regularly throughout the build, and we don’t close out a project until the whole team (including you) is satisfied with the result.

What does the design process look like? It starts with a conversation about how you actually live, what you need the house to do, and what your budget can realistically support. From there, we work with designers and architects to turn that into drawings, and we’ll flag anything that’s going to pull the budget sideways before it does.

Do your homes come with a warranty? Yes. All of our new builds come with 2-5-10 home warranty coverage through a licensed provider, which is standard for licensed BC builders. We also stay in touch after handover if anything comes up.

Can you work within a specific budget? Yes, and we’d rather you tell us a real number up front than a vague one. The sooner we know what we’re working with, the better we can design around it without hitting surprises later.
